Traveling in Mexico With The Insights of Franco Magno

Hi! Magno readers. The Magno Insights are some of the learnings I’ve come to after 25 years of traveling experience in Mexico. By taking advantage of these inputs, you’ll go a little beyond on your trips in Mexico. Please take advantage of these recommendations that I consider useful for any kind of visitor.

So, some recommendations for the state of Guanajuato are:

* There are places in Mexico that aren’t beach destinations. However, they meet those features that install them in the memory of their visitors forever.

What’s more. Those visitors want to live once again for sure the memories they experienced in places like Guanajuato.

The state of Guanajuato has that Mexican magic that leads to visiting its territory over and over again.

When you bring a simple travel plan for your trips in Mexico, you know you’ll have the peace of mind on your side required to save you from the guessing about What’s next?

A simple sketched travel plan will be essential in destinations like Guanajuato.

Now, if you want to visit the Guanajuato state, my partners of jetradar.com can offer you the best airfares here; or if you’d like to get another opinion, my partners of chepoair.com have great rates here. Thank you very much for supporting me.

The Guanajuato state allows you to make tourism in a relaxed way. A kind of tourism that takes you by the hand to its invaluable attractions in such a welcoming way that you just have to let yourself go.

I recommend starting this fantastic journey either through Guanajuato capital city or through San Miguel de Allende. Both cities are world heritage cities, multi-awarded destinations by tourism specialists.

* San Miguel de Allende. My main recommendation is this one.

Let yourself be carried away by its magic, by its authenticity, by its front-line menu of exquisite art diversity, by its architecture, and culture.

The Mexican Baroque architectural style shows a unique visual dimension here.

Its historic colonial buildings will take you by the hand to have a day of fantastic magic.

I advise you to start these tours through the very heart of San Miguel, the “Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel.”

* A Magno travel tip. As I recommend in all of my posts, accessing a typical Mexican market is entering another Mexico within Mexico.

Here in SMA (San Miguel de Allende) you have an outstanding exponent: the “Ignacio Ramírez” market.

At this place, you can have a delicious and copious breakfast to charge your batteries before you start to conquer San Miguel.

You’ll be surrounded by every one of the diverse Mexican popular expressions, exquisite gastronomy, and an explosion of colors, flavors, and smells.

Fragrant aromas and textures will attract your attention powerfully.

Please bring your camera and your best selfie pose ready. Thank you.

* Another Magno travel tip.

When you find yourselves in a setting like “San Miguel de Allende,” paying some kind of respectful tribute and support to all those people who make a great effort to take noble products before your hands is a way to embrace the destination you visit.

What do I mean? I mean organic products to earn a space into consumer markets. That tribute is more than welcome.

What I’m talking about? I’m talking about visiting the “TOSMA,” or the local San Miguel de Allende producers market.

Besides the “TOSMA,” visiting the “SANO” market is a good choice. This is a market for organic products and specialties that find their proper place thanks to their different levels of beneficial impact, and relationship with the local community.

Both markets enjoy wide acceptance among “San Miguelenses” and visitors too. Both markets have their locations in the Historic Center of San Miguel.

Guanajuato is great, isn’t it? Let me suggest you rent a car to drive in Guanajuato.

Why? Because it’s very convenient and taking advantage of the affordable rates that my partners of Discover Cars offer you here or Economy Bookings that you can get here, driving in Guanajuato will be trouble-free. Thank you very much for supporting me.

* However, you also have world-class restaurants there. Internationally recognized Mexican chefs run some of these culinary temples.

Among some of the most dedicated exponents, they have the following ones. The “Jacinto 1930,” the “Áperi,” the “Vergel,” and the “Casa Blanca Café,” just to mention a few ones.

* I advise you, once you have your fuel tanks full, to make the tour of San Miguel’s viceregal mansions, and the so-called “Ruta de Capillas de Indios.”

These historical buildings settle in different points in the surroundings of the “Parroquia de San Miguel.”

Culture, history, and art unfold majestically before your eyes. Enjoy them.

* Another Magno recommendation? Well, this one goes on behalf of the house.

If you enchanted your senses with the visit to the markets I mentioned above, San Miguel de Allende is another perfect setting in Mexico to refresh the soul by visiting any of the delicious “SMA” spas.

Delicious body treatments will indulge your body and soul. Some San Miguel’s spas are among the world’s best. Right there, you have representatives such as the “Laja Spa” inside the “Belmond Casa de Sierra Nevada” hotel.

Other high-end spas come in the horizon, courtesy of the “Sense” inside the “Hotel Rosewood San Miguel,” or the “Dos Casas Spa” inside the “Dos Casas” hotel too, among many others. Point and apart on a visit to “San Migue.” (Yap! San Migue!)

* Guanajuato Capital. Its mining origin. Harmonious symphony of colonial architecture. Its majestic viewpoints. Its great restaurants, hotels,  and its museums. Its amazing tourist attractions. It’s everything that will enchant you every day’s visits

A symbolic and unmissable city within the Mexican destination’s concert. I recommend starting this thrilling journey in Guanajuato’s very heart, in front of the “Teatro Juárez,” and the “Jardín de la Unión.”

* Also, I recommend eating Guanajuato visually from one of the unmissable points for your visit. This way, you can realize the dimension of what I am talking about when you visit Guanajuato capital city.

It’s from the viewpoint located in the monument to “Don Juan José de Los Reyes Martínez,” more well known among Mexicans as “El Pípila.”

How to get there? Through the exceptional “Funicular Panorámico” (Guanajuato’s city cable car).

Guanajuato’s capital city’s majestic views will unfold beautiful and impressive before your eyes without any words needed.

* The “Festival Cervantino.” I advise you to live it at least once in your life.

October is the date every year when the state of Guanajuato becomes the epicenter for culture in Mexico and Latin America.

Concerts, theater plays, movies, and street interventions. Amazing art performance, along with the unmissable, typical, and cheerful “Callejoneadas Guanajuatenses.” (Music and theatrical representations with visitors through the alleys of capital Guanajuato).

* Where are the places to register your presence in Guanajuato capital? There goes the Magno list of “musts.” Subject to your likings. The Historic Center and its beautiful buildings, mansions, and colonial temples surrounded by high-end gastronomy options.

The mines’ tour, such as “La Valenciana.” Some other places with a tag of unmissable are the “Teatro Juárez,” and the “Jardín de la Unión”, of course.

The “La Alhóndiga de Granaditas,” prime Mexico’s history location. The “Ruta de las Haciendas” such as that of “Hacienda Cobos,” and “Hacienda San Gabriel de Barrera.”

The “Mercado Hidalgo,” the “Callejoneadas” through the typical alleys, and the world-famous “Callejón del Beso.” are fabulous visitor’s spots to be there. The “Carretera Panorámica,” which leads to another Guanajuato’s magical village “Dolores Hidalgo,” is an astonishing ride overlooking this majestic city.

Now, what is the result of combining fantastic accommodation options at very affordable prices and awesome tours? Hostelworld and Musement.

These partners of mine offer you excellent lodging rates here and amazing tour options here, so that you can enjoy Guanajuato to the fullest. Thank you very much for supporting me.

* Would you like one more? Of course. Don’t leave Guanajuato without “alleying” (Callejonear). That is, singing, laughing, joking, dancing, applauding, and living one of the most beautiful and unique experiences in all of Mexico. The typical “Callejoneadas” are some of the greatest things you can ever live in all Mexico.

Captivating experience and rhythm courtesy of the musical group formed by an “Estudiantina.”

The Estudiantina is a musical group composed of Guanajuato’s University students.

They walk, sing, and have fun along with their visitors and companions through some of the most iconic capital city’s alleys.

Those spaces are dressed with full of history in Guanajuato’s downtown.

The “Callejoneadas” are one hour twenty or thirty minutes long as much.

Another Magno tip for the Capital’s “Callejoneadas.”

If you haven’t experienced them at all, I recommend you go empty-handed, since during the tour the students will give you some things to accompany the playing.

They may be roses for the visitor’s couples or a little iconic ceramic container, the so-called “Porrón.”

The typical “Porrón” is a small bottle typical of Guanajuato, where you’ll get a serving of a non-alcoholic beverage to accompany the tour further.
