Traveling in Mexico With The Insights of Franco Magno

Hi! Magno readers. The Magno Insights are some of the learnings I’ve come to after 25 years of traveling experience in Mexico. By taking advantage of these inputs, you’ll go a little beyond on your trips in Mexico. Please take advantage of these recommendations that I consider useful for any kind of visitor.

So, some recommendations for the state of Quintana Roo are:

* A travel plan for solo or group travel of what you want to visit in Quintana Roo state is kind of essential. As one of the most complete state in Mexico offering tourist attractions and visitors’ services, it’s easy to get confused with so many majestic places to see and enjoy.

Now, if you want to visit the Quintana Roo state, my partners of jetradar.com can offer you the best airfares here; or if you’d like to get another opinion, my partners of chepoair.com have great rates here. Thank you very much for supporting me.

Due to my traveling experience, I now practice the action of just let myself be carried away by the Maya Riviera and Maya coast charming destinations on my visits to the Quintana Roo state.

I recommend renting a car, preferably in Cancun, and travel the federal highway number 307 Cancún- Chetumal.

Along that way, unique places will appear before the eyes of hungry explorers.

* Depending on how you arrive at Quintana Roo, either by air, by ground or by the sea, you can then build your travel plan, in case you don’t have one. This fact will determine the closest points of attractions to you.

Most visitors do so through the Cancun International Airport (CUN), which is the second-largest in combined traffic in Mexico, and the first in international passenger traffic. So, I’ll be assuming just for the following example you’ll be arriving by plane.

One essential point I recommend here. Once you land in Cancun, determining the way you’ll leave the airport (provided that you haven’t decided in advance) is key. Why is that?

This point is essential because there are several ways that can impact any pre-existent plan or personal choice you may want to go with.

I mean, I assume you may want to choose the fastest service regardless of the cost, or a thrifty one or maybe some high-end transportation services. The choice is yours.

* The distance between the airport and the “hotel zone” is approximately 22 kilometers (13.67 miles).

What’s the most comfortable way to do it? Renting a car or taking a taxi. However, the second option is the one that becomes the most expensive of all the available choices.

In the first case, I recommend that you arrive with a reservation previously booked since the car rentals’ provision at the airport may run out depending on foreigners’ arrivals volume.

Cancun is the central point for car rentals in the Quintana Roo state. The other locations are the hotel zone and “Ciudad Cancún,” besides Playa del Carmen, however, Playa is some distance away.

Regardless of this situation, there are other options such as collective passenger Vans, passenger bus service by the “ADO” bus company, and transportation services by smartphone applications such as Uber.

* The essentials of Cancun?

I recommend five basic and essential points you must register your visit to take Cancun’s soul back home.

* 1.) The views from the “Playa Delfines” viewpoint. I cannot describe here what you’ll see there.

You just stand at the sighting balcony and don’t stop staring at the divine horizon.

2.) The Scenic Tower of Cancun. More paradise where you’ll see it all. Fill your sight, mind, and soul with live postcards that will last forever in your memory.

3.) The “Museo Maya de Cancún.” It will give you a glimpse of the environment in which the majestic historical Maya culture developed in this “Yucatan’s Peninsula” area.  A museum so complete that it even offers a Maya’s historical site live representation there. You can visit the “San Miguelito” archaeological zone next to the museum.

4.) The “Mercado 28” or “Plaza Bonita.”

In all of my travel intelligence posts, I recommend it the same way. Visiting a typical and traditional Mexican market is accessing an alternative dimension. In this micro-cosmo where the enormous Mexican social, cultural, and historical wealth flourishes in its most pleasant and beautiful expressions.

5.) Isla Mujeres. Located 10 kilometers (6.21 miles) away from “Puerto Juárez,” Cancun. This paradise haven is a magical coastal town that will offer you other adventures and delicious surprises.

Those great places are represented by the sanctuary to the Maya goddess “Ixchel,” the “Garrafón Natural Park,” and the “Hacienda Mundaca,” among others.

Quintana Roo is great, isn’t it? Let me suggest you rent a car to drive in Quintana Roo.

Why? Because it’s very convenient and taking advantage of the affordable rates that my partners of Discover Cars offer you here or Economy Bookings that you can get here, driving in Quintana Roo will be trouble-free. Thank you very much for supporting me.

I advise you to rent a golf cart in Isla. It’s the most comfortable and sui generis vehicle you can rent here to woo the Women’s island.

* More paradise jewelry outside Cancun?

Here is the travel intelligence I’ve acquired after years of wandering around my country.

* Listen to the wind sound blowing through the “Tulum” archaeological site temples.

Taking a tour to marvel yourselves with buildings such as “El Castillo,” the main site’s pyramid, the “Templo de la Serie Inicial,” the “Templo del Dios Descendente” and the “Casa del Halach Uinik,” is an eclectic experience.

Photographing the site and the Caribbean Sea between 14:00 and 16:00 on a sunny day will reveal you unique shades that aren’t present at other times of the day. The sea’s green and turquoise blue that you’ll see there will take your breath away.

Now, what is the result of combining fantastic accommodation options at very affordable prices and awesome tours? Hostelworld and Musement.

These partners of mine offer you excellent lodging rates here and amazing tour options here, so that you can enjoy Quintana Roo to the fullest. Thank you very much for supporting me.

* “Xcacel-Xcacelito” beach. Another little piece of paradise in Mexico.

Located approximately halfway between “Playa del Carmen” and “Tulum,” about 45 kilometers (27.96 miles) from Playa del Carmen and 18 kilometers (11.18 miles) from Tulum. (No signs show the entrance to this destination; please bring your GPS working, thanks).

It comprises a pristine beaches’ symphony, a sea turtle nesting sanctuary, and a nearby cenote (sinkhole).

A site of incalculable ecotourism value. A protected nature reserve that invites you to explore it but to keep it intact the same way you see it for the first time, too.

* I recommend bringing your food, drinks, biodegradable sunscreen (essential), hat, enough garbage bags, light clothing, and your medicines (if you need them).

Not throwing any cigarette butts is extremely appreciated to keep this paradise slice the same way, a celestial, heavenly spot.

Why? Since this is a nature reserve that requires special care from us, there are no convenience stores, restaurants, or bars or accommodation within the reserve, so the ideal visits start from Playa del Carmen or Tulum.
