Tulum Travel Notes. A Franco Magno Service For All Travelers
Experience and Analysis at The Service of The Traveling Community to The Riviera Maya
Tulum, Quintana Roo state is a paradisiacal Riviera Maya beach destination.
Its exuberant nature, lush flora, and exotic fauna.
The incredible heritage that the great historical Maya culture bequeathed to voyagers of today in such impressive and pristine destinations as Tulum.
However, if you want to visit the Quintana Roo state, my partners of jetradar.com can offer you the best airfares here; or if you’d like to get another opinion, my partners of chepoair.com have great rates here. Thank you very much for supporting me.
Have any of you ever been to Tulum?
I guess some of you have already visited Tulum a few times.
However, for those of you who are planning your first visit to Tulum or travelers who have visited Tulum only once, the Magno Tulum travel experience comes in.
Certainly, I have to open this Magno travel notes post with the first Tulum’s unmissable topic.
The accommodation. I don’t think I reveal a prime secret when I tell you that, like every destination with an international reputation, lodging in small villages is a kind of matter for wise planning in advance.
Tulum’s lodging options and their variation in categories and prices make feel their presence before decision takers’ eyes at the moment of booking accommodations.
Let me shed some light.
Talking about travelers’ budgets concerning Tulum lodging options, hotels, and all those alternative options like Airbnb and some other app lodging spaces available at Tulum’s downtown and surrounding blocks, may show significant variations in prices.
This situation may fluctuate depending on high and low lodging demand seasons.
On the other hand, hotels located on the road to “Boca Paila,” southern Tulum towards the “Sian Ka’an” Biosphere Reserve, represent an alternate option in quality lodging services for visitors.
From the modest category hotels to boutique-style small resorts, planning your stay in Tulum requires some kind of smart planning.
Let me tell you that, unlike Cancún, Tulum’s charm resides in its cozy and friendly atmosphere.
This Riviera Maya majestic pearl cannot compare in size, volume, and services’ number to the ones offered by Cancún.
Tulum is more than a medium-sized, coastal magical village. Here you won’t find those mega lodging complexes usually seen in Cancún. This fact translates into more specialized lodging options.
At hotels located on the road to Boca Paila, you’ll find privileged locations, some of which face blue turquoise beaches.
Other options offer alternatives to all those who seek to twist the way they stay in Tulum. What am I talking about? Hotels like “Azulik” or “Alaya” represent a unique way to spend a stay there.
Tulum is great, isn’t it? Let me suggest you rent a car to drive in Tulum.
Why? Because it’s very convenient and taking advantage of the affordable rates that my partners of Discover Cars offer you here or Economy Bookings that you can get here, driving in Tulum will be trouble-free. Thank you very much for supporting me.
That’s all fine, you may say.
Boca Paila is a setting enjoying a geographical location unquestionably privileged in Tulum.
This particular aspect reflects on accommodation prices showing that privilege they enjoy.
So, should your budget doesn’t afford it, especially for those who travel on a backpacker or budget plan, the hotels in Boca Paila won’t fit into a travel itinerary where a limited budget is present.
At this point, I recommend those friends take advantage of several affordable hostel options, like the “Tubo Tulum Hostel,” conveniently located close to downtown.
The second Magno travel note.
I refer to swimming safety in the heavenly Tulum’s turquoise waters beaches.
Let me tell you that the Great Mesoamerican Coral Barrier Reef or the “Mesoamerican Reef,” which they are alternate names for the “Mesoamerican Reef System,” runs off the coast of Tulum.
In fact, it starts running from “Isla Contoy” north of “Isla Mujeres,” northern Quintana Roo state, and finishes off the Honduras coast.
In my travel experience, it’s precisely in warm seasons like spring and summer, that those coral reefs segments boast lots of marine flora and fauna specimens.
This way, you should take some care.
Although it’s not frequent due to the visitors’ number that waddle in the waters and the noise generated by boats, a fish called “barracuda” may wander around the coral reefs.
This marine dweller characterizes by having its habitat on tropical waters and reefs, as well as other species that could be potentially dangerous.
It’s uncommon, but on some occasions, a barracuda has been seen approaching the beaches.
Nothing to call emergency services or even the Navy.
Just watch your steps as you walk into the beach.
For all you friends who like to take advantage of the great experiences that eco-tourism sports offer when visiting a place like this destination, Tulum won’t disappoint anybody.
Now, what is the result of combining fantastic accommodation options at very affordable prices and awesome tours? Hostelworld and Musement.
I say this for sure. Some tour operators offer scuba-diving tours to the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef. These local experts warn visitors about some do’s and don’ts for recreational water activities.
Third Magno travel note.
I remember a friend’s experience swimming on Tulum’s beaches one beautiful summer day in 2015.
My friend came to have an encounter with a small “sea flea.” I mean, a tiny insect almost microscopic, that usually comes in a small branch of sargassum (seaweed) detached from the same barrier reef and by the effect of the sea waves, ended its navigation at the beach’s shore.
After leaving the water, his chest showed some tiny bites visible on his skin approximately one hour later.
These little injuries didn’t bleed at all, only made him feel uncomfortable with some itching.
Nothing serious to worry about or call 911.
He got a medical remedy at a specialized dermatological pharmacy in Cancún.
He bought a specialized ointment as well as an antihistamine medicine that healed his stings in less than two days.
This way, my Magno followers, it’s not unnecessary to remind you that when you swim or dive in waters where there are coral reefs nearby, many flora and fauna species will be doing their daily activities there.
So, please keep this always in mind to enjoy your trip to the fullest but with your eyes wide open.
